Review of Honor 20

Mobile Reviews

The Honor 20, the economic mediator of the Chinese company Honor, delivers satisfactory performance at the flagship level and the camera with a reasonable price tag for the user.

The Honor 20 family is one of the latest products from the Huawei Group to escape US sanctions; So while the Honor 20 was shipped with Android 9 by default, it has now received the Android 10 update with the new Magic UI 3.0 user interface and, of course, all Google services.

The Onr 20 relies on a not-so-bulky 3750 mAh battery to provide the energy it needs. Such a capacity is no longer surprising in 2020; However, it should not be forgotten that in addition to battery capacity, things like resolution and panel type along with screen brightness, operating system optimization and CPU structure also affect battery life. The company predicts 132 hours of music playback, 18 hours of movie playback and 26 hours of 3G calling for its phone; But what is the battery life of the Honor 20 in the real world? To find the answer to our questions, we run the usual MobileAps tests on the device.

The video playback test is performed while the screen brightness is at 200 nits, and all wireless connections are cut off along with the sound of the device speaker. In this case, the Honor 20 streamed MobileAps-standard HD video for 12 hours and 58 minutes continuously, which is mediocre performance compared to other competitors and much lower than the time claimed by the manufacturer.

In the next step, it is the turn of PCMark and GFXBench‌ Software tests to evaluate the charging of the Honor 20 in everyday applications (Screen-on-Time) and continuous processing of heavy graphic content. We run the PCMark test when the power management settings are in default mode and Performance mode is not enabled. The Honor 20 display stays on for 200 hours with a resolution of 200 nits and simulates the everyday use by the PCMark test for 8 hours and 51 minutes.

Of course, in a world where thousand-dollar flagships fail to win the title of perfect product, cost-effective intermediation will not make all the difference; But features such as modern design, glass body, very powerful processor, display with relatively accurate colors and very soft user experience makes the Honor 20 the focus of our attention.

The Honor 20 captures eye-catching photos as long as it is in good light conditions and does not disappoint in the dark; On the other hand, the average battery performance can be overcome thanks to the 22.5 watt charging system.
